Hello! I’m Lisa MacDonald, Nationally Certified (NCPT) Third Generation Master Pilates Instructor and Integrated Movement Specialist sharing with you Pilates inspired movement and information to feel better in your body and mind so you can live your best life.

I’ve spent a lifetime moving, dancing, running and going to the gym. Moving makes me feel good and gives me a sense of freedom and independence. Yet, I’ll never forget the day 15 years ago when I reached down to pick up one of my daughter’s toys off the floor and my back seized and I couldn’t move. From that point on, intermittently my back would “go out” followed by a constant dull ache. I kept living in that perpetual pain cycle for years.

Finally I had enough. Ten  years ago I consulted with a back specialist. The doctor told me I had degenerative disk disease and mild scoliosis and suggested I do everything I could do to keep from having surgery. That is how I found Pilates.

And now, here I am, teaching Pilates for 9+ years and moving pain free in and out of class.

I can do all the things I love again like keeping up with my college aged girls, hiking with my husband in the Arizona desert, kayaking off the coast of Washington, Maine and Michigan and taking long walks with my two dogs right here at home. I can do the not so exciting stuff too, like carrying the laundry basket up the stairs, changing the sheets on the bed and vacuuming. Perhaps those last three things don’t sound very inspiring, but when you can’t do those things and have to rely on others to do it, it matters. 

It’s all about independence and freedom! Life changing!

Pilates has transformed how I move and more. 

Feeling good in my body, has made me happier, more confident, more productive and has given me the freedom to face new challenges and live my best life. My life has been transformed in ways I could never have imagined years ago.
